This summer, Beechwood’s tradition of musical excellence extended far beyond Fort Mitchell, as current students, alumni, and staff members took part in the 2025 Drum Corps International (DCI) season — the highest level of competitive marching arts in the world. DCI is basically the “major leagues” of marching band. It has recently been (accurately, we think) recognized as a sport by both the New Yorker and NPR. Each summer, elite drum corps made up of the best high school and college age marching band performers from across the country, rehearse or perform nearly every day.
Their season culminates in August at the DCI World Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where the very best compete in front of tens of thousands of fans. You don't get to perform or teach at this level unless you are the best of the best — and Beechwood was represented at nearly every level this season.
Phantom Regiment & Cincinnati Tradition Highlights
Two corps with strong recent and current Beechwood student ties had great seasons.
Phantom Regiment With Beechwood alumni Brady Thompson (Class of 2023) and Logan Suter (Class of 2024) on the field, Phantom delivered had an incredible season and had an amazing show.
Phantom is in the top tier World Class division of DCI, consistently one of the best corps in the world, and they finished 6th overall this year.
It is worth noting that Beechwood's current band director, Austin Bralley, also marched for Phantom Regiment during his formative years.

Cincinnati Tradition Current band member Isaac McGlasson and alumna Jayne Bullock (Class of 2018) helped power Cincinnati Tradition to a big 4-point margin win in the All-Age Open Class Semi-finals with a score of 90.95.
This was the highest score ever achieved by Cincinnati tradition. Cincinnati Tradition finished 5th overall in finals even beating some World Class corps.

Beechwood’s Broader Footprint
The Beechwood band community was well represented across the DCI— from performers in top-tier corps, to staff shaping programs, to even the judging ranks at Championships.

Thank You!
This kind of excellence doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s possible because of the support of our Beechwood families, alumni, staff, and the Fort Mitchell community. Every ticket purchased, every volunteer hour, every cheer in the stands contributes to creating opportunities for our students to shine — not only here at home, but on the biggest stage in marching band. For those of you reading this that support our kids, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
