Austin Bralley's tenure as Director of Bands at Beechwood High School began in the summer of 2017. During Mr. Bralley's tenure at Beechwood, the Marching Tigers have earned placement in KMEA State Finals in each year and were named KMEA State Champions in 2019 and 2021. The Marching Tigers were named Bands of America Grand National Semifinalists in 2017 and 2019, earning 3rd place in class both years. The Marching Tigers were named BOA Class A Regional Champions in 2018 and 2019 and BOA Regional Finalists in 2019 and 2021. The Marching Tigers were nominated for the John Philip Foundation’s Sudler Shield International Award for Marching Excellence in 2019 and 2021. The Symphonic Band and Middle School Bands at Beechwood have earned all distinguished ratings at each KMEA assessment during Mr. Bralley's tenure. In 2020, Mr. Bralley was named the KMEA District 6 High School Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for the KMEA State High School Teacher of the Year award. 

 

Prior to his appointment at Beechwood High School, Mr. Bralley was the Assistant Director of Bands at Adair County High School in Columbia, KY from August 2014 to June 2017. During his time at Adair County, the marching band finished as a state finalist and national semifinalist each year and earned a KMEA State Championship in 2015. Also during his tenure at Adair County, the band won Bands of America Class A National Championships in 2014, 2015, and 2016. The concert bands at Adair County Middle and High School received all distinguished ratings at each KMEA assessment event during Mr. Bralley’s tenure and the Adair County Jazz Band also received all distinguished ratings at their first-ever appearance at the KMEA State Jazz Assessment. Immediately Following Mr. Bralley’s tenure, the Adair County Marching Band received the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Shield Award. 

 

As a performer on trombone, Mr. Bralley has been fortunate enough to perform at the Montreux, Beaujolais, and North Sea Jazz Festivals in Europe, Carnegie Hall in New York City, the PGA Tour Ryder Cup, the FEI World Equestrian Games, the NCAA Final Four, the CBDNA National Band Conference, the Jazz Education Network National Conference, and multiple Kentucky Music Educators Association State Conferences. Mr. Bralley has also performed with several professional ensembles including Saxton’s Cornet Band, Bluegrass Area Jazz Ambassadors, The MetroGnomes Big Band, the Lexington Philharmonic, the Commonwealth Trombone Ensemble, Heartland Winds of Elizabethtown, KY, and the Capital City Community Band of Frankfort, KY. Mr. Bralley is an alumnus of the Phantom Regiment Drum Bugle Corps of Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Bralley holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Kentucky and is currently pursuing a masters in Education Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. Mr. Bralley's professional affiliations have included the International Trombone Association (ITA), Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the Kentucky Education Association (KEA). Mr. Bralley is currently the Marching Band chair for KMEA District 6 and a Class 1A representative on the Bands of America Marching Band Advisory Committee. Mr. Bralley currently resides in Fort Wright, Kentucky with his wife, Kelli.
