The 2019-20 school year will mark Austin Bralley's third year at Beechwood and sixth year overall as a music educator. Mr. Bralley is a graduate of the John Hardin High School and the University of Kentucky.
As a performer, Mr. Bralley has been fortunate enough to appear at the Montreux, Beaujolais, and North Sea Jazz Festivals in Europe as well as the PGA Tour Ryder Cup, the FEI World Equestrian Games, the NCAA Final Four, the CBDNA National Band Conference, the Jazz Education Network National Conference, multiple KMEA Conferences, and several other events. In 2010, Mr. Bralley had the privilege to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and folk music legend Arlo Guthrie. Mr. Bralley has also performed with several professional ensembles including Saxton’s Civil War Cornet Band, Bluegrass Area Jazz Ambassadors, The MetroGnomes Big Band, the Lexington Philharmonic Holiday Orchestra, the Commonwealth Trombone Ensemble, Heartland Winds, Capital City Community Band, and many more. In the summer of 2007, Mr. Bralley marched euphonium in the Phantom Regiment Drum Bugle Corps of Rockford, Illinois.
Prior to his appointment at Beechwood, Mr. Bralley was the assistant director of bands at Adair County High School in Columbia, KY from 2014 to 2017. At Adair County, the marching band finished as a state finalist all three years and earned a State Championship in 2015 in KMEA class AAA. Also during his tenure at Adair County, the band won the Bands of America Class A National Championship in 2014, 2015, and 2016. The concert bands at Adair County Middle and High School received all distinguished ratings at each KMEA assessment event during Mr. Bralley’s tenure. The Adair County Jazz Band also received all distinguished ratings their first-ever appearance at the KMEA State Jazz Assessment.
In Mr. Bralley's two-year tenure at Beechwood, the Marching Tigers finished as a KMEA state finalist both years. In the fall of 2017, the Marching Tigers were named Bands of America National Semifinalists and finished in 3rd place in class A at Bands of America Grand Nationals. In 2018, the Marching Tigers were named class A Champions at the Bands of America Regional in Bowling Green, OH. The Symphonic Band at Beechwood has earned all distinguished ratings at each KMEA assessment during Mr. Bralley's tenure.
Mr. Bralley's professional affiliations include International Trombone Association (ITA), Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the Kentucky Education Association (KEA). Mr. Bralley is currently the Marching Band chair for KMEA District 6 and a member of the Bands of America Marching Band Advisory Committee. Mr. Bralley currently resides in Crestview Hills, KY with his wife Kelli.
